Julia,

I am a police officer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. I was recently approached by a student who received a envelope filled with cookies and information regarding your service. My concern is that the cookies were not requested by the person who received them. The cookies were placed into a suspicious package with your contact information. The package was mailed from Pittsburgh and your contact information has you listed in Redmond, WA. If you did not mail the cookies from Pittsburgh, then another person is using your information to mail them. This is not a criminal investigation, I am just looking for information so that I can provide comfort to the person who received the package. If they are from you or if they are from another person in this area. If they are not from you I am interested in finding out were they came from. I would appreciate any information you could provide me regarding cookies sent to Pittsburgh, PA, specifically the 15213 zip code.

Julia: Wow, I never thought my sending cookies would lead to such a hassle. I am truly just trying to bring a little bit to people's lives. However, I understand how getting cookies in the mail may be a little suspicious. I will try to come up with a verification system that can prove that I don't send poisonous cookies and really do send people cookies. I don't know how I can prove this, but I'll think about it.

Someone sent me brownies back! These are brownies from my friend, and they even came with a letter!

Your cookies arrived yesterday, and X and I really like them! Thanks a lot! I’m attaching a picture – they arrived in real good shape.

Hi Julia! One of my friends sent me the link to your site, and I think it's an awesome project. If you could please send me some cookies, you would bolster this college student's optimism and faith in humanity :-)

I hope this is real, because I love cookies more than anything in the world!

I would love some cookies! I think this is an adorable idea, and I've sent your site on to several of my friends. I believe one of them has already placed an order.

... I both hope and fear that your site will go viral. it's such a cute idea, but then again, the idea of overloading such a kind stranger with umpteen-thousand cookie-requests makes me feel sort of guilty. But! you did request that I forward this on to as many people as possible.

So my friend was in the cafeteria at school the other day, and he decided to buy a cookie! We're both pretty knowledgeale and focused on health and fitness, but sometimes cookies are just too good to pass up. So he sat down, ate his sandwich, and then unwrapped his chocolate chip cookie. Now, my friend is pretty much deathly allergic to any sort of tree based nut. So it is fairly unfortunate that whoever wrapped and labeled the cookies that day mislabeled a few macademia nut cookies as chocolate chip.

Long story short, I got a call from him later that day saying he was in the Student Health Center and probably wouldn't be around most of the day, because there was a nurse perched at his bedside, ready to stab him with an Eppepen (s?).

He's okay now, but the medication they gave him (to pretty much prevent him from dying) knocked him out the rest of the day.

I was hoping you could send him some non-poisonous (for him) cookies? I don't know if you always use the same cookies, but if you could send him cookies with pretty much NO nuts, just to be safe... :)

It's been a hard day. I feel like this is divine providence to have found your website and get to look forward to receiving cookies.

I'm sorry that you're getting cookie fatigue... I used to have sex on the kitchen floor while waiting on cookies, (you know...so you can still hear the timer)... it made it a lot more fun and added some spice to the ritual. Check with your man. ;) If that doesn't work... you could always embroider or knit. :P

blech. mint chip was GROSS! hey btw i don't know if you already know this but if you put an apple slice in with the cookies they stay moist in shipment. it was an old grandmother trick. (later email) i still enjoyed them definitely. sorry my reaction in the first email was completely visceral due to the texture and weird mintiness. the joy of getting fresh baked cookies was still present and of course we still ate them all b/c they were made with care if not love. Julia: Perhaps they meant love if not care? Anyway, this just goes to show that not every cookie is perfect. I really appreciated this honest reply. If you're unsatisfied, please ask again!

Cookies are sweet. And sending cookies overseas is doubly sweet. But receiving free cookies in the mail when you weren't expecting any mail-order cookies is totally sweet!
